Terms of Use
Welcome!
Letters From Haven ("we," "us," "our") is a family-operated handwritten letter subscription service based in Phoenix, Arizona. The business is owned and managed by Chris Eggleston. Haven, a minor, is the creative heart of the service — she writes and illustrates every letter under direct parental supervision. All business operations, contracts, finances, and data handling are managed by the adult owner. By using our website or subscribing to our service, your agreement is with Chris Eggleston, the adult owner of this business. If you don't agree to these terms, that's okay — but please don't use the site or subscribe.
What We Do
Letters From Haven is a family-operated monthly subscription service. When you subscribe, our daughter Haven will handwrite a personal letter each month and mail it to the recipient you designate at the mailing address you provide. Each letter includes hand-drawn artwork, stickers, and other small creative touches. All mailing, billing, and subscriber communication is handled by the adult owner.
Every letter is unique and handwritten by a child. The content, artwork, and presentation will vary from month to month. That's kind of the whole point.
Subscriptions & Billing
Monthly billing. Your subscription will be billed on a recurring monthly basis at the rate shown at the time of purchase ($19.95/month or $27/month, depending on your plan). You authorize us to charge your payment method each month until you cancel.
Price changes. We may adjust pricing in the future, but we will always notify you at least 30 days before any price change takes effect. You can cancel before the new price kicks in if you prefer.
Payment processing. Payments are processed securely through our third-party payment processor (currently Stripe). We do not store your full credit card number on our servers.
Cancellation & Refunds
Cancel anytime. You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account page or by contacting us at the email below. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle — meaning if you cancel mid-month, you won't be charged again, but Haven will still send any letter already in progress for that month.
Refund policy. We offer a full refund on your first month if the first letter doesn't bring a smile. Just reach out within 30 days of your first charge. After the first month, subscriptions are non-refundable for months already billed, since Haven has already written and mailed the letter.
Mailing & Delivery
Letters are sent via USPS First-Class Mail to any valid US mailing address. We are not responsible for mail lost, damaged, or delayed by USPS after it leaves our hands. If a letter doesn't arrive, let us know and we'll work with you to make it right.
Accurate information. You are responsible for providing a correct and complete mailing address. If a letter is returned due to an incorrect address, we'll reach out so you can update it.
We currently ship only within the United States.
Recipient Information
When you subscribe, you provide the name and mailing address of the person you'd like Haven to write to, and optionally some personal details to help Haven personalize her letters (such as interests, favorite colors, etc.). You represent that you have the right to provide this information and that the recipient would welcome receiving mail from us.
Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including text, design, graphics, and logos — is owned by Letters From Haven and may not be reproduced without our permission. The letters and artwork Haven creates become the property of the recipient once delivered.
Limitations
Letters From Haven is a creative, personal letter-writing service provided by a child with the support of her family. We make no guarantees about the therapeutic, medical, or psychological effects of receiving letters. While we believe in the power of handwritten connection (and the research supports it), our service is not a substitute for professional medical or mental health care.
Our total liability to you for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you've paid us in the prior three months.
Availability
We limit our subscriber count to ensure every letter gets the care and attention it deserves. We reserve the right to maintain a waitlist, pause new subscriptions, or adjust capacity at any time.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you by email. Your continued use of the service after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.

The Short Version
Who We Are
Letters From Haven is a family-operated handwritten letter subscription service based in Phoenix, Arizona, owned and managed by Chris Eggleston. Haven, a minor, participates in the service by writing and illustrating letters under direct parental supervision. She does not have access to subscriber accounts, payment information, or any personal data collected through this website. All business operations, data handling, and financial management are performed by the adult owner. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect the personal information of our subscribers and the recipients of Haven's letters.
Information We Collect
From subscribers (the person paying):
Your first and last name, email address, and payment information. Payment details are processed and stored securely by our payment processor (Stripe) — we do not have access to your full credit card number.
From you about the recipient:
The recipient's first and last name, mailing address, and any optional personal details you share to help Haven personalize her letters (such as hobbies, favorite colors, or life circumstances). We use this information solely to write and mail letters.
Automatically collected:
When you visit our website, we may collect basic analytics data such as pages visited, browser type, and general location (city/state level). We use this to understand how people find and use our site. We do not use this data to identify you personally.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Process your subscription and monthly payments. Write and mail personalized letters to your designated recipient. Communicate with you about your account, billing, and our service. Send occasional emails about Letters From Haven (such as new offerings or Haven's storybooks). Improve our website and service.
That's it. We don't use your information for anything else.
What We Don't Do
We do not sell your personal information. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. Ever.
We do not share recipient information with any third parties other than USPS (to deliver the letter) and our payment processor (to bill your subscription).
We do not use your data for targeted advertising.
Third-Party Services
We use a small number of third-party services to operate Letters From Haven:
Stripe — for secure payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy governs how they handle your payment data. stripe.com/privacy
WordPress — our website platform. automattic.com/privacy
Google Analytics (if applicable) — for anonymous website traffic analysis. We use privacy-friendly settings and do not enable advertising features.
Children's Privacy
Letters From Haven is a family-operated business involving a minor (Haven) who writes and illustrates letters under direct parental supervision. Haven does not operate, manage, or have access to any part of this website, subscriber accounts, payment systems, email systems, or personal data. She receives only the recipient's first name and any personalization notes you provide, which are shared with her by her parent for the sole purpose of writing letters. All business decisions, data handling, and subscriber communication are performed by the adult owner.
Our website is not directed at children under 13. The service is purchased by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted information to us directly (not through a subscribing adult), please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Data Retention
We retain your subscriber information for as long as your subscription is active and for a reasonable period afterward (up to 12 months) in case you decide to resubscribe or if we need the records for billing purposes. After that, we delete it.
Recipient information (name, address, personalization notes) is retained only for the duration of the active subscription. Once canceled, this data is deleted within 90 days.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information, including using encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure payment processing through Stripe, and limiting access to personal data to only those who need it (which, in our case, is basically just us — we're a family).
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security, but we take it seriously and do our best.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
Access the personal information we have about you. Update your information at any time through your account or by emailing us. Delete your data — just email us and we'll remove your information within 30 days (except where we need to keep it for legal or billing reasons). Opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
California Privacy Rights
If you're a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you additional rights regarding your personal information, including the right to know what data we collect, request deletion, and opt out of any sale of personal data. Since we don't sell personal data, this last right is already covered — but if you'd like to exercise any of these rights, just contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email or by posting a notice on our website. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
